The Turning Point: Choosing a Different Path
Cheryl knew that no one was coming to save her. If she wanted to change her life, she would have to do it herself. The dream that had always burned inside her—to work in the beauty industry—was not just a passing interest but a calling. However, the only school that offered esthetics training was 400 miles away. With no money and two children to care for, the odds were stacked against her. But Cheryl had a plan.
She started selling stitchery at home parties, working late into the night to gather enough funds for her education. Leaving her children in the care of her parents, she traveled to pursue her certification. She immersed herself in her studies, working both day and night, determined to complete the program in half the expected time. And she did—with honors.
Returning home, she was hit with another harsh reality—she had nowhere to go. That same afternoon, she found herself in a transition house for abused families, starting over once again. But she was not defeated. She had a vision, and she was going to build something that had never been done before.
